BEACH BOOK FESTIVAL NAMES “LIFE IS A WHEEL” FOR GRAND PRIZE

NEW YORK_ The story of a man’s bicycle trip across the United States is the grand prize winner of the 2014 Beach Book Festival, which honors the summer’s hottest reads.

Author Bruce Weber’s “Life is a Wheel: Love, Death, Etc. and A Bike Ride Across America” (Scribner) is the report of a 57-year-old obituary writer who chronicles his trip across the vast country. It’s a diary that’s part travelogue, part memoir, part love story, and a breezy and entertaining read that’s perfect for summer.

Weber and other winners of the competition will be honored at a private ceremony on June 20 at the Grolier Club in Manhattan.
